This is the smallest skillet in the SEIDO Cookware range and the one built for morning work: fried eggs, a folded omelet, a warmed side, a single portion of almost anything. The cooking surface is bare steel — there is no coating to scratch, flake, or wear out. When you are ready, see price on Amazon.

The material

Nothing applied on top.

The cooking surface is 100% 304 (18/8) food-grade stainless steel — the same surface all the way through, made without intentionally added PFAS. There is no coating to scratch, flake or wear out, because there is no coating.

Performance

Built to sear.

Uncoated steel takes the stovetop heat that real searing demands, and builds the browned fond underneath that turns a pan into a sauce. Coated pans cannot be run that hot without damaging the coating, which is why they brown less.

What is an 8-inch skillet best for?

An 8-inch (20 cm) skillet is the egg pan. The compact cooking area keeps two or three eggs together instead of letting them spread thin, and it gives an omelet the tight footprint it needs to set and fold cleanly. If you searched for an 8-inch fry pan, a stainless steel egg pan, or a stainless steel omelet pan, this is the size those searches mean.

Beyond breakfast, a small stainless steel frying pan earns its place as the single-portion and sides pan: one chicken thigh, a serving of sautéed greens, a pan sauce, toasted nuts or spices. It is compact on the stovetop and simple to clean.

  • Fried and scrambled eggs — two or three at a time
  • Omelets — the small surface sets and folds them cleanly
  • Single portions — one protein, one serving of vegetables
  • Sides and small tasks — pan sauces, toasted nuts, bloomed spices

Why choose an uncoated stainless steel skillet?

The SEIDO Cookware 8-inch skillet is 100% 304 (18/8) food-grade stainless steel with nothing applied over it. It is made without synthetic coatings and without intentionally added PFAS. The surface you cook on is the material itself, so there is no coating to scratch, flake, or degrade — this is a pan built to be kept.

Uncoated steel also behaves differently from coated pans: it rewards a proper preheat and a little fat, and in return it browns food in a way coated surfaces struggle to match. For the full material breakdown, read our guide to 304 (18/8) stainless steel.

Should I get the 8-inch, 9.5-inch, or 11-inch skillet?

All three SEIDO Cookware skillets are uncoated 304 (18/8) stainless steel with the same 5-Year Warranty — the only decision is diameter. Choose by what you cook most often, not by what you cook occasionally.

A natural pairing is the 8-inch alongside one larger skillet: the small pan handles eggs and sides while the bigger one handles the main.

  • 8-inch (20 cm) — eggs, omelets, single portions, sides. The daily breakfast pan.
  • 9.5-inch (24 cm) — everyday cooking for one to two people; a versatile all-around size.
  • 11-inch (28 cm) — family meals, larger cuts, and batch cooking with room to spare.

Frequently asked questions
Is an 8-inch skillet big enough for eggs and omelets?

Yes. Eight inches (20 cm) is the classic size for eggs. The compact cooking area keeps two or three eggs together instead of spreading thin, and an omelet folds cleanly without chasing it across a wide pan. For single portions and sides, it is a natural first pan to reach for each morning.

Does the SEIDO Cookware 8-inch skillet have a nonstick coating?

No. The skillet is uncoated. The cooking surface is 100% 304 (18/8) food-grade stainless steel with nothing applied over it — it is made without synthetic coatings and without intentionally added PFAS. Because the surface is bare steel, there is no coating to scratch, flake, or wear out.

How do I keep eggs from sticking to a stainless steel skillet?

Preheat, then add fat. Heat the empty skillet over medium for two to three minutes, then flick in a drop of water: when it beads and glides across the surface, the pan is ready. Add butter or oil, let it shimmer, then add the eggs and let them set before moving them. Sticking almost always means the pan was too cold or too dry.

What warranty does the 8-inch skillet come with?

Every SEIDO Cookware skillet, including the 8-inch (20 cm), is backed by a 5-Year Warranty. The pan is uncoated 304 (18/8) stainless steel, so there is no coating whose wear could shorten its working life. The skillet is sold in the US on Amazon, where current pricing is listed.
